Roberto Michelucci, an artist from Livorno forgotten.

asserts an old saying: "It's always hard to be a prophet in his "just to witness that often your country or your hometown is the last place in the world to celebrate the achievements of their children.
This has happened to famous painters, such eminent men of science or the show and I've had in some respects, a direct testimony with many members of my family (Guido Guidi, Gino Guidi, Galliano Masini, Guidi Bruno, etc.). why, when news of the newspaper The Nation November 27, 2010 I read an article entitled "The Baroque violin Michelucci" signed Mario Michelucci (the son?) I felt honored and asked to remember and make room on my humble blog to our great fellow violinist.

Roberto Michelucci (Livorno 1922 - Firenze 2010) was a talented violinist. He studied at the Conservatory of Florence and in Rome he won first prize in the Festival Concert. From 1967 to 1972 he was first violin of the Chamber Orchestra "I Musici" , With whom he recorded several albums winning a gold in Tokyo in 1972. Much of his work, dedicated to educational tasks, but it should be noted, however, that the artist has performed for many years in the most famous theaters in the world with a vast repertoire ranging from Baroque to the Romantic and contemporary art. He has had many international awards with her work between '57 and '62 has won three Grand Prix du Disque in Paris in 1967 was invited (first time an Italian) to play at the Salzburg Mazarteum, but His appearances in theaters Leghorn were very irregular.
a pity!

How Does Hymen Look Like?

Ghirlandaio, a family of painters of the Renaissance between Florence and Livorno Scandicci

The exhibition presents a spectacular collection of some of the finest works of the clan Ghirlandaio: Domenico as a parent, brothers David and Benedict, the son Ridolfo, students (including Lorenzo di Credi and Granacci) and those formed in their shop, which operated for nearly a century, the second half of the fifteenth to the early sixteenth century.

The headquarters of the exhibition is located in the beautiful rooms, recently renovated, the Castle dell'Acciaiolo Scandicci. In parallel to the exhibition, a fascinating journey through churches and small museums in the north west of Florence takes visitors on the trail of the artistic activity of Ghirlandaio in the territories in which they were industrious.

The route embraces the ancient Abbey of S. Salvatore and S. Lorenzo Seventh in Scandicci: the hand of Domenico is recognized in the beautiful plumes of the apse fresco in a picturesque and Adoration of the Magi.
In the town of Campi Bisenzio not miss the frescoes by Domenico embellished in the nave of the Church of St. Andrew in San Donnino.

Closing the path will be a tribute fitted to the painter in Florence in the Palazzo Medici Riccardi.

Biographical notes:

Domenico Ghirlandaio, the founder, was named Domenico Bigordi really. To him and to all members of his family was given the nickname "Ghirlandaio" because the father of Dominic, a talented goldsmith, was particularly good at making jewelry in the shape of wreath.
The original territory of Scandicci Dominic was, but in the first half of the fifteenth century his entire family moved to Florence, then capital of the world (but I think even today) to boost the art and its development " workshop ".
